The Drainage Is the Design
Most drip trays are something you hide. This one is the part you notice first. The Voronoi Square Planter is 3D printed in matte PLA as a two-piece system: a rounded cube pot with a rough, stone-like textured surface and a single drainage hole, sitting on a low base whose four sides are cut into an openwork Voronoi lattice, the cellular pattern you see in dragonfly wings and cracked earth. Water drains through the hole into the base, the lattice hides the runoff and lets air move under the pot, and from the outside it reads like a small sculpture.
At just under 4 inches square it is sized for the plants that live on desks, windowsills and bookshelves: succulents, small snake plants, peperomia, pothos cuttings, a young ficus. It takes a 3 to 3.5-inch nursery pot, or plant directly — the drainage is built in. Pair it with the Coin Stack Planter or the Ribbed Planter with Legs for a matched set in the same six colors.
- Real drainage: one hole in the pot floor, runoff collected in the lattice base
- Voronoi base: an openwork cellular pattern on all four sides, structural and decorative at once
- Textured cube: a fine rough surface on the pot that reads like cast stone and hides fingerprints
- Fits a 3 to 3.5-inch nursery pot, or plant directly
- Six matte finishes, pot and base in the same color
Specifications
- Pot: 3.9 x 3.9 in, 3.3 in tall (10.0 x 10.0 x 8.5 cm); opening 3.6 in (9.2 cm) square
- Base: 4.4 x 4.4 in, 2.0 in tall (11.3 x 11.3 x 5.1 cm); about 4.6 in (11.7 cm) tall assembled
- Fits: 3 to 3.5 in nursery pots
- Drainage: single hole in the pot floor, runoff collected in the base
- Material: 3D printed PLA, matte finish. Pot has a fine rough textured surface; base is smooth. Two pieces, the pot rests on the base — no tools
- Care: wipe with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth; a soft brush clears dust from the lattice. Indoor use only — keep away from radiators and prolonged direct sun. Empty the base after watering
- Made to order in Louisville, Kentucky. Ships to the United States and Canada
FAQs
Does it really drain? Yes. The pot floor has a drainage hole and the base underneath collects the runoff, hidden behind the lattice. Water it in place and empty the base now and then.
What size plant fits? Anything sold in a 3 or 3.5-inch nursery pot. A 4-inch pot will not fit. You can drop the nursery pot straight in or plant directly.
Is the base attached? No. The pot sits in a recess on top of the base, so you can lift it off to empty the tray. Nothing to assemble.
Why is the pot rough and the base smooth? The pot is 3D printed with a fine textured surface so it reads like cast stone and hides fingerprints; the base is smooth so the Voronoi lattice stays crisp. Both are the same matte PLA color.
Can it go outdoors? No. PLA softens in prolonged direct sun and heat, so keep it indoors and away from radiators and hot south-facing windowsills.
Does it match the other planters? Yes — the six matte colors are the same as the Coin Stack Planter and the Ribbed Planter with Legs, and the lattice echoes the Lattice Catch-All Bowl.
